Welcome to IO-IMMUNITY website

IO-Immunity is a research project dedicated to the study of the jurisdictional immunities of international organizations.
The project explores the “shields” that protect organizations, their premises, archives, and staff, as well as the “bridges” that connect international law with domestic legal orders. Its goal is to clarify why international organizations receive immunity, how these protections relate to their functions, and to what extent such regimes reflect general principles of international law or vary across institutions.

By mapping treaties, headquarters agreements, and relevant international practice, IO-Immunity provides a systematic and accessible overview of this fragmented legal landscape. The project also makes available a growing database that collects, classifies, and compares the immunity regimes applicable to different international organizations around the world.
