The Agreement, concluded on 1 December 1954, replaces the Convention of 21st June 1920 as modified on 31st May 1937 establishing the International Institute of Refrigeration.
The Institute enjoys in the territory of each of its Member Countries such legal capacity and status as may be necessary for the exercise of its functions and the fulfillment of its aims as defined in separate agreements made with the interested Member Countries (Article XXIX Legal capacity, privileges and immunities).
